I would like to think my heart is in the right place all the time. I don’t strive for perfection but I do my best to bring my heart with me on business calls and appointments. Why? We all have one! Even if our outer shell exudes something different.  It’s more than just loving what I do.

Behind every person there is a unique story. That’s my favorite part of having my own business. I’ve met so many wonderful people! If I am lucky, I get to see glimpses of who they are and what makes them tick. I listen to the stories about their businesses as the passion unfolds.  It’s exciting! The stories are never the same and every business does something different.

EACH DAY I CHECK MY HEART

I’ve had opportunities to learn and research about restaurants, occupational therapy, life coaching, window treatments, interior design and even aluminum garage doors. The adventure is not knowing what type of company will call next and the challenge of applying the right marketing strategies. Each day I check my heart. I have a paper weight shaped as a heart sitting on my desk. I look at my heart everyday and it serves as a reminder to do all things with the best intensions. I purchased it on a trip to Woodstock! Well, I was told it was three days of peace, LOVE and music back in the day! I settled for a shopping excursion and walked away with a sentimental token I love seeing everyday on my desk.

Some people may say talking about the heart in business is weak. I see it as strong! The heart is a strong muscle and I can honestly say, my most successful business relationships have tons of heart. There is a lot of communication going on whether it’s by email, text, phone, Skype, Google Hangouts, FaceTime or in person which is my absolute favorite! We get to learn about each other’s lives and support one another.

The life of small business owners can sometimes feel isolating. It becomes easier when you surround yourself with a team of capable entrepreneurs. It doesn’t matter that we come from different industries. Many challenges are the same and I think it helps all of us to share. Maybe even give a little bit extra of ourselves.

MORE THAN JUST EARNING A PAYCHECK

There is nothing like meeting in person for lunch, grabbing a bite for dinner or spending quality time talking about business using the ease of technology today. My heart is in the right place and I actually feel it. It’s an amazing experience helping people do more of what they love on a daily basis. It’s more than just earning a paycheck. It’s making an investment in the lives of other business owners to help them succeed.  I am truly honored to play even a small part in that.

This week I received calls and emails from clients that raised the hair on my arms. I know my heart is in the right place and I am grateful to have clients to thank for that. <3
